Workshop idea : A lot of money went into refurbishing the Old school building. We’ve had some great cafes, the workshop feedback was that we wanted to keep this building open and for community use - lots of options were suggested including a community mixed use building, overflow or local health services given the situation in East Calder and bring services closer to the community, a softplay for young children, a cafe.
The MCCC have good knowledge of the ins and outs of running services and businesses out of this building. We note that the insurance and rent liabilities are significant and whatever structure takes this on would need to have a structure that protects their own livelihoods.
