Helensburgh Community Council is looking to gather residents' input into a “Helensburgh 2020” Community Action Plan. This will be a comprehensive vision for how the how the community wants the town to develop and improve, and will be the framework for engaging with A&BC, funding bodies and wider groups to actively work to achieve that vision and improve the town. HCC has no funding for creating a CAP - we are asking for £2500 to fund the "discovery" phase for residents & groups' consultation.
Helensburgh will grow over the coming decade, requiring new homes, education & health provision, a new leisure centre & associated works. Massive changes in a compressed timescale. Helensburgh Community Council wants these developments to be coordinated via a comprehensive "bottom-up" vision for Helensburgh driven by residents' priorities and aspirations. The funding will allow us to consult the town fully to create a Community Action Plan through surveys, focus groups and questionnaires.
Argyll and Bute TSI will hold a drop in help session on Wednesday (10th January) from 10am-12pm and 1-3pm in the Helensburgh office at 14 Colquhoun Square. If you would like help with the stage 2 application pop in and see us (we will have a cuppa and biscuits on hand too...)
It has been over ten years since such an exercise has been carried out in Helensburgh. The town has changed a great deal in those ten years and there is a need to have a more up to date community plan to assist with the delivery of services in the area.
A long overlooked and neglected aspect in Helensburgh's development- involving the residents' needs and wishes in the decision making of how the burgh develops.
Your support is asked for enabling Helensburgh Community Council (HCC) to create a Helensburgh 2020 Community Action Plan- led by the community for the community. To gather your opinions and views fully requires funding and HCC has none! Please join in and help HCC to make Helensburgh a better place for all our community. Thanks Christine Woods
Great idea, did you know that Argyll and Bute Council have an Community-led Action Plan toolkit with templates, fact sheets, useful links and resources? Please visit https://www.communitytoolkit.net/ for further information on the toolkit.
